Annual General Meeting, held on Saturday 1st, March 2008.

Our Annual General Meeting was held in the Old Courthouse on Saturday evening of the 1st of March. Fifty Two members were present and the high points of the evening were as follows.

The Commodore thanked all the members for their contributions throughout the year. Without the many willing volunteers the club would not exist.

The Rear Commodore Mimi Rieheld thanked all the members that helped put on the themed parties last year and especially thanked Bill Jowers and Dorothy Freuh who were not present for their cooking skills and making the Peanut Regatta supper something special.

Following on from that, the Commodore thanked the four members who hosted one or more parties last year. Those present were Mimi Reiheld, Phyllis Pepper and Mandy FitzSimons who were presented with a Yacht Club Apron as a token of our appreciation. Connie Sage also hosted a party but she was not present.

The Fleet Captain, Gil Burroughs reported on the season's sailing and presented the trophies to the winners in the Spring and Fall Series. These were,
Spring Series
1st Brian FitzSimons in Ember
2nd Ken Atkisson in Frolic
3rd Carl Hafer in Drifter III

Fall Series
1st Brian FitzSimons in Ember
2nd Ken Atkisson in Frolic
3rd Joe Kenney in Teachers Pet

Under New Business the proposal to raise the dues and Initiation Fee to $50 each with effect from the end of 2008, was passed unanimously.
The proposal to amend the By Laws to require members who bring guests to our events to do so only twice and pay $5 per head, and to sign them in our Guest Book was also passed unamimously. Please note that racing crew are exempt from the fee, but should still be signed in the guest boo.

Carol Elliott was the winner of our Chilli Cook Off last year and was presented with a suitably embroidered Apron for her prize.

THe meal of Terriyaki Chicken and rice followed by dessert, was provided by the GOlden Corral and featured table service. The consensus was that it was the best catered meal we had had for some time, and it came with gift tokens!

The meeting was adjourned and the room was cleared in record time by the members present.

Here are some photographs of the event to help you remember a great evening.
